Micah Moon was inducted into Altavista High School Athletic Hall of Fame Inaugural Class on February 5th, 2022.
​
Moon graduated from Altavista in 1981. He is known for his basketball and football career that he had at Altavista. In football, Moon was an All-Group AA Selection as a linebacker. He was a First Team All-Seminole District Selection for football in 1980 and 1981. Moon was selected to play in the Virginia High School Coaches Association (VHSCA) All-Star Game. In basketball, he was second team selection. Moon received the 1980 and 1981 RJ Edward Awards for his performance in football and basketball. He was also voted Most Valuable Player in track.

Moon continued his football career at the University of North Carolina (UNC). At UNC, he received multiple achievements. Moon was an All-ACC Linebacker, All-Super South Selection, Playboy All-American and the 1983 Peach Bowl's Defensive MVP. He played professional football with the Atlanta Falcons and the Indianapolis Colts.
