Jennifer Hecht (Kerns) was inducted into Altavista High School Athletic Hall of Fame Inaugural Class on February 5th, 2022.

​

Hecht graduated from Altavista in 1985. She was a multi-sport athlete at Altavista. Hecht competed in the High Jump and the Long Jump. In volleyball, she was voted the team's Most Valuable Player (MVP). Hecht was a three-time All-District Selection and a three-time Seminole District Player of the Year in volleyball as well.

In basketball, Hecht was a three-time All-District Selection, two-time Seminole District Player of the Year and first team All-Regional Selection. In 1982, Hecht was voted Defensive Player of the Year and was the team's MVP. She also competed in the Virginia High School Coaches Association All-Star Game. Hecht is the first female basketball player at Altavista to be apart of the 1,000 point club and ended her basketball career with 1,126 points. She continued her collegiate career at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).
